A Word for Right Now
Trusting God When Life Is Hard
October 26, 2026
There are seasons when trusting God feels natural. The way is clear, prayers are being answered, and life appears to be moving in the right direction.
Then there are seasons when trust must become a decision.
Life becomes difficult. The answers do not come quickly. What you expected does not happen, and what happened was never part of your plan. In those moments, it can be difficult to reconcile what you are experiencing with what you believe about God.
Trusting God does not mean pretending that everything is fine. Faith does not require you to deny your disappointment, suppress your questions, or act as though pain does not hurt. God is not intimidated by your honesty.
Trust means deciding that your present circumstances will not have the final word about God’s character.
Isaiah 43:2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”
Notice that God did not promise that we would never encounter deep waters. He promised that we would not enter them alone. The presence of trouble does not mean the absence of God.
When life is hard, encouragement may not always arrive as a sudden feeling. Sometimes encouragement must become a practice.
Remember what God has already brought you through.
Tell the truth about what you are feeling.
Stay connected to people who can pray with you and remind you of what is true.
Take the step that belongs to today instead of trying to solve the entire future.
You may not understand what God is doing, but you can trust that He has not stopped working. Silence does not mean abandonment. Waiting does not mean rejection. A difficult chapter does not mean your story is over.
You do not need enough strength for the entire season today. Ask God for enough grace for this moment, enough wisdom for this decision, and enough courage for your next step.
Life may be hard right now, but God is still faithful. Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep trusting. The same God who has sustained you before is with you now.
Reflection
Where do you need to trust God one step at a time today?
Prayer
God, help me trust You in the places I do not understand. Give me strength for today, wisdom for my next step, and confidence that You are with me. Remind me that this difficult season does not have the final word. Amen.
